This set of nine interactive activities from the Languages online resource helps students practise the days of the week and the months of the year. The main language points are asking and saying what day it is, saying what people do on a particular day, saying which months birthdays fall in and saying that a special event is on a particular day and in a particular month. The set begins with pronunciation and writing drills, and proceeds to listening comprehension practice with more challenging games, some of which are quizzes to be completed 'against the clock'. Instructions in English, immediate feedback and answers with translations are provided, as well as resources for teachers including additional printable activities with an internet research task and a Language focus page.

Educational value
  • This is a valuable interactive resource for Indonesian language learning at beginners level, and supports the Communicating and Understanding strands of the Australian Curriculum. It may support the Reciprocating strand with some teacher planning and prompting on Indonesian celebrations in comparison with the learners' life experiences. The activities are suitable for mid-late primary and secondary school students.
  • The resource provides engaging digital activities that also offer cultural insights into some traditional Indonesian celebrations and their place on the annual calendar, such as Independence Day and Hero's Day.
  • Games and quizzes are provided that are timed against the clock and that also allow students to assess their own ability by making choices about the speed they play at. The activities also build upon prior knowledge of some key vocabulary (hobbies, sports, places, pets).
  • Audio support, answers and translations, and additional printable activities for teachers are included.
